October Grand Knight Message: Invitation to attend, join, give
Greetings Brother Knights,
As we are about to step out of the beautiful month of October, I hope each of you is enjoying the season of thanksgiving and reflection. It’s a wonderful time to celebrate our faith, our brotherhood, and the good works we continue to accomplish together. All Saint’s Day and All Souls’ Day is coming quickly…and then Christmas is right around the corner!
General Council Meeting & Dinner - Monday, October 27
Our next general meeting will be held Monday, October 27. We’re adding dinner before the meeting, so times are:
- Dinner: 6:00 pm (We’re experimenting with times, costs and the meals themselves to see what the majority prefer.)
- Rosary: 7:00 pm
- Meeting: Following dinner
- Location: Columbus Conference Centre
We look forward to greeting everyone and enjoying fellowship together.
“Go for two” – growing our brotherhood
At the Supreme Convention, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly renewed his call for each of us to invite more Catholic men to experience the fraternity and purpose of the Knights of Columbus. He challenged us to “go for two” — to invite two men to join between September 1 and December 31, 2025.
When you recruit two men during this period, you’ll be entered into a draw for a $1,500 USD cash prize! You can learn more from this short video:

Charity and volunteer opportunities
If you have a charity or cause you’d like our Council to support, please reach out to me directly. We’re always looking for new ways to make a difference in our community.
We’re also preparing for upcoming volunteer events — including the Basketball Free Throw competition in January/February and walking in the Santa Claus Parade on November 15 to collect toys and donations. It’s never too early to get involved!
Bishop’s Dinner - Donation from our Council
On October 19, members of Council 5135 attended the Bishop’s Dinner at the Columbus Conference Centre. The dinner, organized by the Kitchener Council, was a great celebration of our brotherhood, and we heard a wonderful message from Auxillary Bishop Wayne Lobsinger. We were able to make a donation to the Bishop from our Council – pictured below – George Dube, Auxiliary Bishop Wayne Lobsinger, Todd Cowan, David Haid, and Peter Guinta.Great thanks to the Kitchener Council for such a well organized event!
Community Partnership Leadership Award Recipient
Congratulations to Martin Hickey for receiving the Community Partnership Leadership Award from the Waterloo Region Police Service for his “commitment to leadership and community outreach”. Martin accepted the award on behalf of Council 5135 at a ceremony on October 9. Excellent work!
Thank you all for your continued commitment, your service, and your faith. Together, we make a real impact in our community — and I look forward to seeing you all on October 27.
Warm regards…
S.K. George Dube
